The Action Marine Park group have been working with the Moray Council to secure a Community Asset Transfer of the wider park area. This was recently finalised allowing the group now to apply for substantial financial support for the regeneration including community pavilion, small chldrens’ playpark, dedicated football area, outdoor gym and other facilities.
The increasing use of the tennis courts by the Tennis Club and pay to play for locals and visitors on a daily basis, as well as the growing use by the Walking Football Group has highlighted the pressing need for permanent onsite facilities. These two main sporting user groups are expanding rapidly due to their popularity. Consultation with the local community has shown the urgent need for certain items such as re-instating a pavilion with toilet facilities, more accessible seating and a disability friendly children’s play area. There is a strong desire for re-establishing a putting area as well as enhancing the current football space.
Funding is currently being sought for the continued refurbishment of the park with the pavilion as a main priority.
Other defined areas for development that the group are seeking financial support for are:
- small childrens’ play park area disability friendly
- sensory garden area with additional seating
- definition of the flat space sports area
- additional defined areas for putting, cycle/scooter track and outdoor gym
The local community continue to be very supportive of the project demonstrating again their wishes to use and enhance this positive outdoor space and providing facilities open to all.
