Park Developments

Since 2011 the park has undergone an amazing transformation by the AMP committee with the support of local businesses and the community as well as funders.

Phase 1 of the regeneration of Marine Park is the hugely successful refurbishment of the tennis courts. The two hard surface tennis courts were in a terrible state of disrepair and neglect, covered in moss and algae and with very little fencing. The rusted fence supports were collapsing in on the courts, with broken jagged fencing which was potentially dangerous for users.

AMP and friends have thoroughly cleaned and then repainted the court surface, pointed surrounding walls and completely re fenced the area in modern rigid ball fencing with a solar powered electronic gate access.

The group instigated the reformation of Lossiemouth Tennis Club due to the great interest shown in all of the tennis events run by AMP on the Marine Park Tennis Courts. Now the courts are used weekly by Lossiemouth Tennis Club for coaching and club activities, attracting a growing membership from Lossiemouth, Elgin and the surrounding area.

In addition the courts are also available for general public hire with a’ pay to play’ system, accessed via online bookings.  Moray Council book weekly sessions, running during school term time, for an after school tennis activity , this also is greatly popular and is regularly one of the top attended tennis events run by Moray Council. Lossiemouth High School have used the courts recently as a term of tennis incorporated into their PE calendar.  Free Taster sessions are run by AMP and Lossiemouth Tennis Club on Family Fun Days in Marine Park Tennis Courts and also as part of LTA Great British Tennis initiative. Local groups such as the Boys Brigade, have also enjoyed free taster sessions on the courts when the equipment and assistance has been provided, to give the children healthy active outdoor fun.
