About Us

Action Marine Park is a community group aiming to restore this once popular recreational area to its former glory.

In years gone by the park boasted tennis courts, a bowling green, pitch and putt and other amenities housed in a pavillion.  It was a busy facility that was enjoyed by families of Lossiemouth and beyond.

Over the years the park was not maintained and eventually all that remained were the delapidated tennis courts.

Action Marine Park was formed in 2011 by a small group of people passionate in retaining the park and to bring it back to life.

Charitable status was gained in 2013 and the group initially worked to raise the profile of the park within the expanding local community.

Fun days, coffee mornings, ceilidhs and tennis coaching have been organised and enjoyed to not only raise the profile of the park but to raise initilal funds to make urgent repairs required to make the park a safe place to visit and play.

In 2014 the group worked with members of the community with a passion for tennis and the Lossiemouth Tennis Club was formed. The club is now entering its second year and has been fundamental in supporting the work of Action Marine Park.  It was with great excitement that the summer of 2015 was started with not only clean courts but a brand new fence and netting, secured by funding applications made by AMP.

In 2015 AMP (Action Marine Park) became a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) in line with the Scottish Charity Regulator recommendations SCIO SCO43530

In the summer of 2018 AMP employed two students to attend to activities within the marine park. This made accessing the tennis courts and the hiring of tennis equipment more available to all. Other activities included football and mini footgolf, a great activity for families, childrens’ parties and team bonding.

In 2018 Moray Council approved the Community Asset Transfer application. 2018 also saw the first of hopefully many more successful Easter family weekend events.  The family fun days in Marine Park are now an established part of the community events calendar in Lossiemouth running annually every June and August.

In early 2019 plans were submitted to Moray Council for a community pavilion build in Marine Park.  Funding is currently being sought to support this vital phrase of the project.  The community pavilion will be the beating heart of Marine Park.

AMP will continue to apply for funding and progress the development of the park, consulting with the public at every opportunity.
